"Christopher Columbus Spanish Explorer ." Barlette School 2000 30 Oct 2008 .
I have spent the last year on my second voyage across the Ocean Sea. Sadly, I found the fort and the men that I left behind from the first voyage dead. I do not know what happened to them. I built a new village on another island. My men found gold on this island! I sent a load of gold back to Spain. The Indians were not as friendly this time, and I was forced to kill many of them.

They landed on an island they called Guanahani, but Columbus later renamed it San Salvador. They were met by the local Taino Indians, many of whom were captured by Columbus' men and later sold into slavery. Columbus thought he had made it to Asia, and called this area the Indies, and called its inhabitants Indians.

NHD Topic Selection
I chose Christopher Columbus for my NHD project because i disagree with the way he is portrayed by many americans as a founder the Americas'. I want to prove to americans he is no more than a common criminal and discovered nothing. http://www.enchantedlearning.com/explorers/page/c/columbus.shtml
