biography:Ishmael Reed

Ishmael Reed is the African American author i am writing a biography about. Ishmael Reed is a highly recognized author he started writing newspaper articles at the age of fourteen. Reed is known for several different types of writing and also publishes. I love writing so that's one way i feel me and Mr.Reed have similarities.
Reed moved from his birthplace Chattanooga Tennessee after the first four years of his life. Ishmael was raised with his stepfather Bennie Reed and his mother Thelma Coleman. Ishmael began composing stories in grade school. At the age of fourteen this young black man started writing regular columns on jazz to the empire state weekly which was a local black newspaper.
Ishmael Reed was a great writer he is known for lots of work. Reed write all types of works and publishes so it is hard to narrow his work to one topic. He was a great writer who knew and wrote several styles of writing. He was nominated for multiple awards one poem he was known for was beware:do not read this poem. This poem is kind of scary it is very interesting at the same time. the poem talks about a women who disapearred in mirrors and hunted people in the house for years until the move.
This great writer Ishmael Reed whom is one of the most pre-eminent African-Amerian literature figures. Reed's work as a poetic writer has inspired me. His poem .05 which to me seems like a a boy talking about his romance life inspired me to do the same. Another great poem of Reed's is beware do not read this poem in this poem he talks about a story of a women haunting a house this is the type of poems i like to use.
Ishmael Reed is the writer i wrote a bibliography on. when i started this project i knew nothing of this great African American author now i know of his works his success and contribution to the big world of literature. i didn't know that there were writers that could relate to me. From this project i learned about new cities . this is the African American author that i wrote about.

controversial topic:racism

This story is controversial because of its racism. In this story they treat jim the main black character like a fool. Since jim ranaway and huck went missing around the same time they charged jim for supposedly killing huck. This story provides racial tensions in classrooms.
The story treats jim bad and view him as a dumb "n" word. The widow and ms. watson dress jim with dirty clothes ripped, dirty, and stitched up clothes. The kids woke him up purposely and call him a big "n" word.
The story is very racist when it comes to blaming someone for huckleberry murder. They don't blame the person who kidnapp Huck. they didn't even arrest him for kidnapping huck or breaking in the widows house. They blame the slave who went missing after huck is thought to be dead.
When you read the story you come past the "n" word alot. when tachers allow students to read aloud or read excerpts from the story sometimes they say the "n" word. Some students take this word offensive and especially when said by different races. So this could cause bad tensions in class.
The story is very controversial in many ways. One way the story is controversial is it's very racist. In the story there is alot of racism towards jim. This story can cause racial tensions in schools.

Should Huck Finn Be Taught In Schools

Huckleberry Finn should not be taught in public schools. this book is racist all throughout the story. the dialogue isn't very understandable because they talk exactly how they would in that time. this story has a lot of violence and sexual overtone.
This story is unacceptable it's simply a racist book. students who read this aloud could start tensions if one takes something read offensive. In the story we are reminded of how horrible African Americans were viewed in this story. This story even accused Jim of killing Huck just because they went missing around the same time.
The story has bad language. teachers tell us to read overnight sometimes and if i don't understand the story what's the point of reading by myself. If I am unable to comprehend the story how will I be able to answer questions on the story. Why would i read something I don't understand. The story shouldn't be taught to kids especially. The violence in the story is unacceptable they talk about gangs, killing, and theft. Theres also some sexual overtone in the story. The way they beat on Jim in the story is wrong. I don't think this story should be taught in schools. The story is racist and call African Americans the "n"word multiple times. this puts an extra strain on kids minds because it takes longer to comprehend the story then to read the story. I don't think someone would want their kids to read a story with such violence and racism.
